What is Scrambling/Mountaineering?

Not walking, nor climbing – yet with sections of both usually! Generally its easier sections of steeper rock that you’ll need to use your hands to progress upwards. It may be easy enough that you’re happy to solo, and it could be very short sections – it can be very exposed though! Longer/trickier/more exposed sections can be safeguarded with the rope in a traditional rock climbing sense, but there is a variety of “Mountaineering” type ropework that can speed things up. Scrambling is really a British term – everywhere else in the world they’d probably just call it Mountaineering!
